this afternoon... a 17-year-old charged in connection to the shooting death of
car hire rhodes, a man... at a lexington park... entered a guilty plea.
police charged daymion sanders with manslaughter... after the death of antonio franklin last year. today in court franklin's mother..
had a message for sanders. monique blair joins us live.. with more. 17 year old plea today to second degree manslaughter--
telling the judge he was shooting in duncan park that day because he was being shot at. the judge sentenced him to seven years. "i wanna know why you were in duncan park
that day, i want to know why, i want to know why you had a gun and i want to know why you were shooting." today 17 year old daymion sanders told judge goodwine that
he began shooting in duncan park that april day in 2014 after a group of people shot at him first. "i did feel like my life was in danger. i didn't know what to do. it was a split second
decision." "you are 16. guns don't belong in the hands of a 16 year old. that is my point. antonio franklin would still be with us today." the prosecutor in court today stated it was
sanders bullet that fatally struck 21 year old antonio franklin in the head. today franklin's mother addressed sanders in court, and afterwards told me she how she felt about sanders
pleading guilty. "after today and watching him, i do forgive daymion. i want him to do better and i expect him to behave and learn from this tragedy." sanders will spend
the next six months at the department of juvenile justice because he does not turn 18 until august 31st--- after six months he'll have another
sentenicng hearing where he could then go to the corrections or be sentenced to probation.live in lexington, monique blair wkyt three other men
also face charges
in connection to franklin's death. they'll be back in court next month.
